Recraftability and known factories—Spokane and Spokane Valley, Portland, Scappoose, Red Wing plants, Wisconsin union factories—make ownership clearer over a decade. You can plan resoles, track warranty paths, and know where the boot was finished. Origin is a trust filter after fit, leather quality, and safety features—not a substitute for them.

- Model-by-model checks where a brand sells boots from more than one origin (especially Red Wing Heritage vs. its other lines)
- Qualified language mandatory for Thorogood American Heritage and Danner Bull Run—we never upgrade those claims
- Buying from the brand or a specialty dealer usually gives clearer country-of-origin information than a big marketplace

Brand manufacturing copy states made in USA with imported components, including overseas work before Portland finishing. We use that qualified language only.
